Marrocco built its name quarrying and carving pietra leccese, the soft golden limestone behind Lecce's baroque facades, under founder Salvatore Marrocco, remembered locally as the "re" of the Salento quarries after his death. The firm still cuts and sculpts the stone into architectural elements and decorative pieces from Cursi, a few kilometers outside Lecce.
