Myochin Honpo

Himeji, Hyogo

The Myochin family forged armor for the Himeji domain before turning to fire tongs, and in 1965 the 52nd-generation smith tuned a pair of them into the clear-ringing hibashi wind chime the workshop is now known for. Hand-forged pieces run from the signature iron chimes to titanium bells, letter openers and vases, still made at the family's Himeji forge.
