Nakagawa Jinenbo Kiln
Karatsu, Saga, Japan
Nakagawa Jinenbo hand-digs and prepares its own iron-rich Karatsu clay, then fires it in the Chosen Karatsu style, where a white straw-ash glaze and a black iron glaze are applied together and allowed to bleed into one another in the kiln. Every stage from clay preparation to throwing and firing is done by hand at the workshop, so no two finished bowls or plates carry the same glaze pattern.
