San Roque
Lambayeque (Chiclayo metro area)
San Roque began in 1920 when Lambayecan women baked traditional sweets for charity, and by 1933 it had registered the King Kong, a layered alfajor of shortbread, manjar blanco, and fruit jams named for the film gorilla. From its Lambayeque factory near Chiclayo it now makes more than thirty confections, including pineapple and chirimoya versions of the giant alfajor.
