Viúva Lamego
Intendente
Founded in 1849, Viúva Lamego built the tile-clad building that still dominates Lisbon's Largo do Intendente, its facade itself an advertisement for the ceramics made inside; production moved to a factory in Sintra in 1992. The company still hand-paints large-scale architectural azulejo panels, mixing historic reproductions with commissions for contemporary architects.
