Okamotoya

Okamotoya has stood in Beppu's Myoban hot-spring district at the foot of Mount Garandake since 1875, and its third generation began commercializing yunohana, the white alum bath crystals whose traditional harvesting method is now a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property. The family also makes jigoku-mushi purin, a custard pudding steamed over the sulphurous vapors that has been a signature since 1988.
