The town at a glance
Seabrook is a small coastal city on Clear Lake and Galveston Bay, with a visitor economy built around waterfront food, independent shops and outdoor public art. Its retail scale is compact rather than metropolitan: Old Seabrook, the Point and the NASA Parkway corridor serve different parts of a visit.
The economic story
Community Impact reports that Seabrook approved an $850,000 construction and development grant for a restaurant projected to create 15-20 full-time and 15-20 part-time jobs, with $2 million in first-year sales and $4.3 million in ten-year economic impact. Mayor Jim Sweeney tied that project to the proposed $200 million Seabrook Town Center; these are projections attached to one development, not a citywide payroll measure. Seabrook's official materials place the town beside Bayport and Port Road employers, while Port Houston's Martin study remains a regional channel study rather than a Seabrook employment count.
Where to shop
Visit Seabrook lists Alspaugh's Boutique 'By KellyAnnette, El Lago Coffee & Antiques, Damn Fine Coffee & Fried Pies and Soulfreak Seabrook Cafe in and around Old Seabrook. The same visitor body lists Maas Nursery, Gale's Feed Store, Space City Hardware and other home-and-garden businesses, while Community Impact reports that Maas reached 75 years in Seabrook in 2026.
Where the town eats
The Point is the clearest food-shopping row: Visit Seabrook lists eight seafood markets on Waterfront Drive and Todville Road, including Rose's Seafood, Pier 8 Market and Baybrook's Fresh Seafood. For prepared food, the city's Pelican Path identifies Classic Cafe, Seabrook Waffle Company and Habanero's at Seabrook addresses.
Practical notes
Use Old Seabrook for the pedestrian-friendly local-business cluster, the Point for fish markets, and NASA Parkway for dispersed restaurants and services. The city describes SH 146 as the main gateway and the Point as more accessible after the highway expansion, so plan separate stops rather than one continuous walk.
