Best for German pocket, fixed-blade, and collector knives from an 1869 Solingen house
Böker has operated in Solingen since 1869, giving the house over a century and a half of continuous production in Germany's traditional cutlery city. The company's own site states plainly, "Since 1869, we have been crafting knives by hand in Solingen," and it maintains a working manufactory and physical shop on-site rather than sourcing production out entirely.
The catalogue spans pocket knives, fixed-blade knives, kitchen knives, and straight razors, organized under three house brands: Böker itself for premium handcrafted pieces, Böker Plus for contemporary utility and folding designs aimed at everyday-carry buyers, and Magnum for value-tier outdoor and leisure knives. Every Böker-branded piece carries the company's long-standing Tree Brand mark, a quality mark the firm says has run through its history, and the shop offers laser engraving, resharpening, repair, and lifetime warranty service on select lines directly from Solingen rather than through a third-party service network.
Böker describes itself as the largest manufacturer of sport, duty, and collector knives in Europe, a scale claim distinct from the smaller family workshops nearby, but the underlying facts — an 1869 founding, continuous Solingen manufacture, and a three-tier brand structure running from handcrafted collector pieces down to everyday folders and straight razors — are what a visitor can verify directly from the maker's own history and shop, independent of the marketing claim.
