The Bellido family builds classical and flamenco guitars by hand in Granada, a workshop founded by Manuel Bellido and now run by makers Jesus, Manuel and Mauricio Bellido. Their instruments range from study models to professional concert guitars, with more than sixty years of building behind them.
Benito Ferrer opened this guitar workshop on the Cuesta de Gomerez in 1875, and four generations on it still builds guitars, bandurrias, lutes and castanets by hand. Eduardo Ferrer trained a generation of Granada luthiers and taught guitar-making to Yamaha's craftsmen in the 1960s.
Luthier Johannes T'Kindt builds classical and flamenco guitars to commission from his workshop in Niguelas, in the Lecrin valley south of Granada. He also makes flamenco cajones and wooden capos and repairs stringed instruments.
Luthier Ayman Bitar builds flamenco and classical guitars at this workshop and shop on Calle Animas, alongside handmade wooden capos. The store also stocks accessories and instruments from Spanish makers such as Alhambra and Prudencio Saez.
Oscar Munoz hand-builds classical and flamenco guitars in Granada, including lattice-braced concert models and special editions. His workshop also runs guitar-construction courses and lends instruments to exhibitions with cultural institutions.
