Canberra Glassworks — Australia

Canberra Glassworks, at 11 Wentworth Avenue, Kingston, on Ngunnawal and Ngambri Country, describes itself as the largest glass making facility in the Southern Hemisphere dedicated to studio glass, built and supported by the ACT Government. Visitors can watch artists at work in the Hotshop, take a class or buy hand-made items in the Gallery Shop, open Tuesday to Sunday.

Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Oil Distillery — Australia

Started from scratch in 1991 by a family that built the business with their three children, Emu Ridge remains the only eucalyptus oil distillery in South Australia. Its farm-gate shop sells pure eucalyptus and emu oil plus work from more than twenty local artisans, and visitors can watch the steam distillation process firsthand.

At 102B Goulburn Street in Hobart, this working ceramics studio lets customers watch pieces get slip-cast and hand-glazed on site, with colours like Tarn and Dolerite drawn straight from the Tasmanian landscape. The shop and studio share one space, so browsing the shelves means browsing the actual production line.

Maker Rocky Taniran cuts and saddle-stitches leather watch straps, wallets and small goods by hand in Brisbane. Orders are taken through the studio's online shop, with a focus on simple designs and made-to-last construction.

Willie Creek Pearls — Australia

Willie Creek Pearls farms South Sea pearls at a tidal lagoon north of Broome and sells finished jewellery through its town showroom. Visitors can tour the working farm to watch the seeding and harvesting process.
