Avenida Berriozábal, Urubamba, Sacred Valley (Cusco region)
In a courtyard workshop on Avenida Berriozábal in Urubamba, Pablo Seminario and Marilú Behar make ceramics that rework pre-Columbian Andean iconography in earthy glazes. Trained staff throw the functional pieces while the couple sculpt the one-off art works, and visitors can join hands-on classes.
Máximo Laura, recognised by UNESCO as a living human treasure, weaves densely textured tapestries of condors, jaguars and Andean cosmology, shown at his eponymous museum and gallery in central Cusco. The studio sells finished pieces and runs multi-day weaving workshops in Spanish and English.
