Founded in 1935 by Alvar and Aino Aalto with Maire Gullichsen to sell furniture and 'propaganda for modernism', Artek still makes Stool 60 and the Aalto canon. Its Helsinki flagship at Keskuskatu 1 B occupies an Eliel Saarinen-designed building; the two-level shop carries the full Artek collection, including Stool 60 and the Domus Chair, alongside home textiles, carpets, books and a stool-customization workshop.
Ceramicist Eva Spoof has run Udumbara since 1994, hand-throwing lamps, flowerpots and sculptural vessels in her Kallio studio. The showroom at Kaarlenkatu 15 opens by appointment and also hosts pottery-wheel workshops.
Alexander E. Tillander opened a St Petersburg goldsmith shop in 1860 (imperial-court supplier); Torbjörn founded the present Helsinki atelier in 1956; sixth-generation workshop still handmakes jewellery in central Helsinki (Finnish Wikipedia; Homo Faber).
