April Coffee Roasters

April Coffee Roasters is run by Patrik Rolf, runner-up at the 2019 World Brewers Cup, and roasts out of a dedicated facility in Solrød Strand, south of Copenhagen. The distinguishing part of April's model sits upstream of the roaster: a direct-trade arrangement in which partner farmers set their own prices, rather than the roastery negotiating a rate and asking growers to accept it. That reversal of the usual buyer-sets-the-price dynamic is a structural choice built into the sourcing, not a marketing line layered on top of it.

In Copenhagen itself, April's public face is the Flagship Store & Showroom on Pilestræde, in the city center, which functions as both a retail counter and a place to see the roastery's sourcing and brewing standards in person rather than only through packaging copy.

Rolf's competition background at the World Brewers Cup level sits behind the training and cupping standards connecting the Solrød Strand roastery to what's served at Pilestræde. For a roastery whose reputation rests partly on how it prices its green coffee, the Copenhagen showroom is where that sourcing model becomes a cup you can taste rather than a claim you take on faith.
