Binders Art Supplies & Frames

Binders Art Supplies & Frames traces its start to 1955, when Moe Krinsky and his brother Joe bought a small frame and gift shop in Atlanta. The brothers had run Moe's and Joe's Tavern in Virginia Highlands before moving into retail. Art supplies arrived at a traveling salesman's suggestion and became the core of the business. In 2001 Howard Krinsky and Jay Shapiro purchased the store and opened a flagship in Buckhead in the former Limelight Disco. Stuart Shapiro entered the business in 2011 while three Binders locations were active. Howard opened a second store at Ponce City Market in 2015 as its first tenant, and in 2016 he became president of the International Art Materials Association. The Buckhead Landing store began renovations in 2022 and completed them in 2024. That year Hannah Krinsky joined as the third generation, coordinating marketing and events. The store carries over 50,000 fine art supply products alongside a framing studio, the Limelight Gallery and the Art School at Binders. Rough Draft Atlanta marked the seventieth anniversary in 2025 and noted the Binders Art Supply Scholarship at SCAD, begun after the school came to Atlanta in 2005. A mural outside the store pays tribute to the disco era of the building.
