Boston Bay Wines

Boston Bay Wines is a family-owned cellar door and vineyard on the Lincoln Highway at Tiatukia, just outside Port Lincoln on South Australia's Eyre Peninsula. The Allen family bought the brand and vineyard in 2023. They had already built Barristers Block in the Adelaide Hills into a wine tourism destination and set out to bring the same approach to the peninsula. Jan Allen founded Barristers Block, and her sons Lachlan and James Allen work in the business with her. The family has farmed for three generations, with a fourth on the way. Its wine story reaches back to the first plantings at its Wrattonbully vineyard in 1997. The portfolio now draws on three regions: Wrattonbully, the Adelaide Hills vineyard at Woodside and the Eyre Peninsula. The Boston Bay vineyard was the first planted on the Eyre Peninsula and sits with the Southern Ocean at its doorstep. Riesling is the signature variety. Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz grow alongside it, and the family describes the site as giving soft, delicate wines. Visitors book hosted tastings or wine flights overlooking the water. The kitchen serves pizzas and fresh oysters for lunch, with small plates for sharing. The property also hosts weddings and events. The Allens say family members are often behind the counter at the cellar door. Wines from all three regions are sold on site and through the online shop, and Muster Wine Co handles distribution within South Australia.
