Jamie Parker and Mike Wenzlawe founded Canadian Heritage Roasting Company after developing their roasting instincts an unlikely way — on the fireline, working as wildland firefighters before either of them opened a roastery. That background led to a roastery in Calgary's Ramsay neighborhood, branded as "Canada's tree-planting coffee company," with a tree planted for every bag sold.

The firefighting-to-roasting path gives the company's environmental branding a more literal grounding than most: two founders who spent years working around wildfire and forest land built a coffee business whose central promise is putting trees back.

Between the fireline origin story and the per-bag tree-planting commitment, Canadian Heritage ties its founders' former profession directly to what the business gives back with every sale.
