What Ernabella Arts is known for
Ernabella Arts, in the Pukatja (Ernabella) community on the APY Lands, was established in 1948 and is described as Australia's oldest continuously running Indigenous art centre. Artists began with hand-loomed weaving and knotted floor rugs, added batik silk painting in the 1970s and ceramics from 2003, with senior women depicting Tjukurpa, the sacred stories of Country, Culture and Law.
