Ferguson Australia

Ferguson Australia is a family seafood company built on the Southern Rock Lobster of South Australia. Robert Ferguson left the family farm in the 1960s for the lobster grounds of the south-east coast, at Port Macdonnell, Robe, Beachport, Cape Jaffa and Kingston. His son Andrew went to sea on a fishing boat after leaving school in 1975. He later moved north to fish the waters off Kangaroo Island and Port Lincoln. In 2003 Andrew and his wife Debra decided the only way to deliver lobsters to customers around the world in perfect condition was to process and export them themselves. Other fishing families followed them. In 2015 the company bought Five Star Seafoods in Port Macdonnell and Mori Seafood in Port Lincoln. Today it runs deep sea ocean jacket vessels and three export facilities in South Australia. It remains wholly owned by the Ferguson family, with Kate Birch as general manager. The range still rests on Southern Rock Lobster but has widened to Ocean Jacket, Southern Bluefin Tuna and Bight Redfish. Flathead, Boarfish, John Dory and Yellowtail Kingfish follow, plus a lobster oil. The company dates its quality mark to 1969.
