Ghostbird Coffee Co. is a specialty coffee roaster in Kuala Lumpur founded in 2015 by Thomas Ooi. The name translates burung hantu, the Malay word for owl, and recalls the founder's earlier venture, The Owls Cafe. The company presents itself as a pioneer of Malaysia's specialty coffee movement since that year. Its roastery stands at 9, Jalan Seputeh, off Jalan Klang Lama, and supplies wholesale accounts as well as home brewers through an online shop. Offerings run from comforting house blends for an everyday cup to single origins from farms described as fit for world coffee championships. Recent lots include washed and natural Kenyan coffees from Nyeri, a natural Pacas from El Carrizal in Honduras and a washed Java from Los Jilgueros in Nicaragua. Blends such as Nova combine Brazil Cerrado with Ethiopia Sidama or Colombia Cauca, and a seasonal Merdeka Blend returned in 2026 after a one-year break. The roastery runs public cupping sessions with a roastery tour as well as a latte art workshop and a GB Coffee Club subscription. It also produces merchandise for the Malaysia AeroPress Championship, including clicker keychains and T-shirts, with crew socks in the MAC '26 season colours. Brewing kits from WPM and Bentwood are sold alongside the beans.
