L'Erbolario is a plant-based cosmetics company from Lodi, in Lombardy. Since 1978 it has selected plants and flowers, as well as fruits and woods, for its perfumes and skincare. Forbes Italia recounts how it began as a small herbalist shop of twenty square metres opened by Franco Bergamaschi and his wife Daniela Villa. A former Lambretta dealership behind the shop was fitted out as a laboratory. Every stage of production remains in Italy, and the head office stands at Viale Milano 74 in Lodi. The company keeps a garden whose agricultural activity received ICEA organic certification in 2005, apart from a small ornamental section run on integrated methods. It has joined the Adda Sud Park brand scheme to stay tied to the place where it started. In 2021 it became a Benefit Corporation, a legal form that binds the company to social and environmental aims alongside profit. It publishes an annual Impact Report. Between 2024 and 2025 it turned about 3,000 square metres of lawn at its logistics hub into a wildflower meadow mown once a year. It has also started restoring natural springs across about 16 hectares of its land next to the production plant, to attract amphibians and migratory birds. The range covers face and body care as well as hair care. Home fragrance and a men's line sit alongside, sold through its own and franchised shops and online.
