What Longines is known for

Founded by Auguste Agassiz at Saint-Imier in 1832, Longines built an integrated watch factory under his nephew Ernest Francillon in 1867 and still makes its watches and movements there. Its winged-hourglass mark, registered in 1889, is cited as the oldest unchanged trademark still active with WIPO, and the house has been part of the Swatch Group since 1983.
