Loom

Loom is a French clothing brand co-founded in 2017 by Julia Faure and Guillaume, who set out from the position that a less polluting textile industry has to produce less. The shop stands at 4 rue Barbette in the Marais, in the third arrondissement of Paris, and carries almost everything sold online. Garments are tested in a laboratory and improved generation after generation from the feedback of the people who wear them, with the aim that they last for years and need no early replacement. The company runs no advertising and holds no sales. It issues no collections and avoids prices ending in 9,99. It is financially independent, its only shareholders being 600 of its own customers. Production stays in Portugal and France, countries whose laws the brand considers protective of workers and the environment, and only organic cotton is used. A factories page lists each supplier with the date of the first production run and the last visit. Socks are knitted at Atelier Joly, an Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant, and at Missegle in the Tarn, while shirts are sewn at Marfel in Portugal. Loom writes about the industry on its blog La Mode a l'envers and is a member of En Mode Climat. Strategies magazine profiled Faure in 2023 as co-president of Mouvement Impact France.
