Marufuji Winery (Rubaiyat)
Koshu, Yamanashi
What Marufuji Winery (Rubaiyat) is known for
Marufuji Winery has been run by the Omura family since Jisaku Omura built a small winery in his garden in 1890, and now spans four generations of winemaking under the Rubaiyat label, a name suggested in 1956 by poet Konosuke Hinatsu after Omar Khayyam's verses on wine. The estate grows the native Koshu grape alongside Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay for its dry red, white and rosé bottlings.
