What Meia Dúzia is known for

Meia Dúzia packs Portuguese jams and chocolate creams and olive paste into aluminium tubes modelled on tubes of paint. Siblings Jorge and Andreia started the brand in 2012 in Outiz, Famalicão, using fruit with protected origin such as Azores pineapple and Elvas plums. Porto shops on Rua das Flores and Travessa da Bainharia are joined by Lisbon and Funchal.

Meia Dúzia was created in 2012 by the siblings Jorge and Andreia Ferreira in the garage of their parents' house in Outiz, Famalicão, in the north of Portugal. Andreia had just graduated in food engineering. Jorge, a chemical engineer with a passion for painting, gave the brand its signature. The jams are packed in aluminium tubes modelled on tubes of paint. The house extended the format to chocolate creams and honey and to olive paste and chutneys. The fruit is Portuguese and often carries a protected designation of origin. Azores pineapple and Elvas plums appear beside Madeira bananas and Douro olives. Port wine, Moscatel and Madeira wine go into some recipes, along with organic herbs and spices. The tubes have collected awards at the Salón de Gourmets in Madrid in 2014 and 2016. ITQI awards in Brussels followed from 2015 to 2017, with Great Taste in 2015 and 2017 and a Red Dot award in 2017. The brand opened its first shops in Porto in 2015. It now trades from Rua Santa Catarina 1, Rua das Flores 171 and Travessa da Bainharia 2 to 8. Lisbon followed with Rua de Santa Justa 96 in 2023 and Rua Nova do Almada 90 in the Chiado in 2024. A shop on Rua do Aljube 63 serves Funchal in Madeira.
