What Meru Museum is known for
Meru Museum originated in 1974 inside a former District Commissioner's building dating to 1916, and its grounds include a garden of indigenous medicinal shrubs, a theatre, traditional huts and live animal exhibits including snakes, monkeys and Nile crocodiles. It also houses the Njuuri Ncheke House, an oval traditional structure from Nyambene District entrusted to the museum in 1989.
