MONOM the concept store

MONOM was born in 2016 in Cluj-Napoca from the interest of founder Georgiana Ciceo in minimalist jewellery and geometry in all its forms. Ciceo trained as an architect and became a jewellery designer in 2016, taking a line from Constantin Brancusi, that architecture is livable sculpture, as her starting point. Her pieces are conceived as small architectures to be worn. Each design begins the way a building does, with a sketch and a 3D model, and sometimes a paper mock-up, before it becomes metal. What started as a one woman workshop has grown into a small team. The jewellery is made entirely by that team in MONOM's own workshops in Cluj-Napoca, from concept and prototyping through casting and modelling to the last details. Stock is kept small and replenished according to sales to avoid waste. Pieces are worked in Argentium Silver 960 under an antitarnish coating or in 18k gold vermeil, a layer of at least 2.5 microns of gold over the same silver. Collections carry names such as DAVA, from the Dacian word for a fortified settlement, and AURORA, a study in light and simplicity. The shop stands at David Ferenc street no. 7 in the centre of Cluj-Napoca, with a second point of sale at the AlbAlb shop in Bucharest.
