Moon + Arrow

Chelsea Pearce started Moon + Arrow as a pop-up selling vintage wares and her own handmade jewellery, and the shop describes that beginning on its about page. It settled on Fabric Row in Queen Village and has stayed there since. The Temple News profiled the boutique in 2015, when it stood at 754 South 4th Street and stocked pieces by local artists alongside Pearce's own work. Pearce grew up in Philadelphia, studied metalwork at the Tyler School of Art and then went to Florence to learn jewellery making in an older tradition. Her designs draw on geometry and on alchemical symbols connected to metal. The shop now lists its address as 742 South 4th Street, and its own blog marks fifteen years of trading. The floor carries fine jewellery in brass, sterling silver, gold. Apparel, apothecary goods, ceramics, glassware, books fill the back rooms. Moon + Arrow also runs a children's section under the name Little Moon + Arrow. Visiting artist residencies and in-store workshops bring makers in for a month at a time. The buying leans toward handmade and vintage pieces from independent makers rather than wholesale brands.
