Mouki Mou is Maria Lemos's concept shop at 29 Chiltern Street in Marylebone, opened in May 2013 and named after her daughter. A quiet ground floor holds jewellery and fragrance. A spiral staircase leads to small tiled rooms of clothing and objects chosen on her travels, from Daniela Gregis and dosa to Ted Muehling. A second London space, M.II, and an Athens shop have followed.
Mouki Mou is a concept shop at 29 Chiltern Street in Marylebone, opened in May 2013 by Maria Lemos and named after her daughter. Lemos founded the Rainbowwave showroom, the UK agent for labels such as Peter Pilotto and Carven. She built the shop from things found on her travels, wanting something small and personal, and simple. The 750 square foot space was designed by Pentagram, and at first it deliberately ran without an online store. A quiet ground floor holds delicate jewellery and fragrance. A spiral staircase leads down to a warren of small rooms floored with encaustic tiles. The edit favours clothes that improve with age and jewellery meant to last, along with beauty products for everyday use. Makers include Daniela Gregis and dosa, Sofie D'Hoore and Arts & Science, and the jewellers Gabriella Kiss and Ted Muehling, plus the potter K.H. Würtz. Lemos asks customers to slow down and take time to look and touch. The house has since added a second London space, M.II, and a shop in Athens. Online orders are shipped from the Chiltern Street store in London.
