Mykita

MYKITA is an eyewear design house founded in Berlin in 2003. Its first premises were a former children's day care, called a Kita in German, which gave the company its name. With no one available to manufacture the original designs, the founders set up production in-house and developed their own tools and processes. That approach remains a principle of how the company works, combining specialised craftsmanship with adapted new technologies in what it calls the modern manufactory. In 2014 the team settled into a historic building in Berlin Kreuzberg known as MYKITA HAUS, headed by founder Moritz Krueger. All collections are handmade there, and the designs are patented and have won awards. The Berlin Mitte store sits at Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße 6, one street from Alexanderplatz and between that square and Hackescher Markt. Stores offer eye examinations with ZEISS instruments, blue light lens coatings and free maintenance under the MYCARE programme. Further stores trade in Berlin West, Hamburg, Munich, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Taipei and Bangkok. A collaboration line with the magazine 032c appears across the current collection.
