What Penduka is known for
Penduka, meaning "Wake up!" in Otjiherero and Oshiwambo, has operated for more than 30 years at Green Mountain Dam Road, Goreangab, Katutura, Windhoek, making embroidery, batik textiles, jewellery and upcycled "Trash to Treasure" home goods by hand. It employs rural artisans lacking access to capital or infrastructure, and also runs accommodation, a restaurant and an HIV & TB initiative.
