Rhein 1905

Rhein 1905 was established in Geneva in 1905 and has remained in the Rhein family across five generations since, trading over its history under the names TabacRhein and Rheincigars before settling on its current name, Rhein 1905. The shop operates from Rue du Mont-Blanc 3, in central Geneva, and is recognized as a Habanos Specialist, one of the designations Habanos S.A. grants to retailers authorized to carry its full range of Cuban cigars.

The business centers on Cuban cigars and other Habanos, supplemented by cigars from other producing countries, pipes, pipe tobacco, cigar accessories and spirits, all held in a climate-controlled cellar that the shop describes as one of the most extensive cigar collections in Switzerland. Rather than stocking broadly, the house states its approach as "A selection. Not a catalogue," selecting individual references for character and quality rather than carrying every available line.

The shop serves both local Geneva customers and an international clientele, offering guidance for newcomers to cigars as well as established collectors, and keeps regular retail hours through the week and Saturday. Switzerland's tobacco retail is more commonly associated with Davidoff, but Rhein 1905 predates Davidoff's own Geneva tobacco shop by several years and has operated as an independent, family-run house for more than a century on the same central Geneva street.
