Tea Trunk

Tea Trunk was founded in 2013 by Snigdha Manchanda, who trained as India's first certified Tea Sommelier before building the company. The name traces to her childhood: a vintage trunk in her room stayed perpetually filled with exotic teas gifted by relatives and friends returning from travels, a personal collection that shaped both her interest in tea and the brand she eventually built around it.

Based in Panaji, Goa, Tea Trunk operates as a bootstrapped, women-led, direct-to-consumer company curating more than 100 rare tea varieties into handcrafted blends, sourced from Assam, Darjeeling, and the Nilgiris. Its range runs across green, black, white, oolong, matcha, and herbal teas, sold as whole-leaf loose tea, tea bags, and sampler packs rather than through third-party retail, keeping the company in direct contact with the customers who buy from it.

The company also runs a self-described Plastic Neutral Journey, an explicit sustainability commitment layered onto its sourcing rather than treated as a separate initiative. For a company that started with one sommelier's personal tea collection, Tea Trunk has built a customer base its own materials put at over 100,000 — a specific, verifiable figure for a company barely over a decade old.
