What Villa Myriam Specialty Coffee is known for
Villa Myriam Specialty Coffee is run by Juan and David Certain, third-generation Colombian-American brothers who grow, import, and roast coffee from their family's own plantation in Piendamó, Cauca, Colombia — a farm founded by their grandfather, Joaquín Esteban, in 1961.
The plantation carries Rainforest Alliance certification, and the brothers control the coffee at every stage between that Cauca hillside and the roaster in Albuquerque, New Mexico, rather than buying green coffee from outside growers.
Three generations deep into the same family land, Villa Myriam is one of the more literal single-farm operations in the Americas — the people roasting the coffee are the direct descendants of the person who planted the trees, and the supply chain from Piendamó to New Mexico runs entirely through family hands.
Best for — Coffee grown on their own Rainforest Alliance-certified family plantation
