Jerusalem Shopping Route — Old City workshops and Mahane Yehuda

Jerusalem's route is a sequence of workshops: ceramic and books on Nablus Road and Salah Eddin, painted rooms inside the Old City, silver and secondhand books on the Jaffa grid, then Mahane Yehuda as a market walk. Malha, Talpiot electronics, Bethlehem, Hebron, Rishon, Jaffa and Ashkelon are other chapters, not detours between gates.

This is one central day. The publisher shop in Talpiot and the wrong-geo doors are held out. Buy the workshop that still paints or silvers here, not the mall door.

10:00. Nablus Road and Salah Eddin

Begin at Sunbula — House of Palestinian Crafts, 15 Nablus Road, Sheikh Jarrah. Ask which cooperative embroidered the piece in your hands. Write the cooperative, the stitch, and the pattern before you look at a second cloth. Walk north on the same road to Balian Armenian Ceramics of Jerusalem at 75 Nablus Road. Ask who painted one tile before you look at a second. Hold a house pattern and a tourist motif in the same size. The sibling Balian — Armenian Ceramics is this door.

Cut east to Educational Bookshop at 19 Salah Eddin Street. Name a subject. One book from this shop is enough for the morning. Do not write these three rooms as one mood. They are a tatreez house, an Armenian ceramic studio, and a Muna family bookshop.

12:00. Old City workshops

Enter for ceramic, not for a circuit of the walls. Garo Sandrouni is at 87 Armenian Patriarchate Road, one block from St James. The sibling Sandrouni — Armenian Ceramics is the same house. Watch the painting if the room is working. Jerusalem Pottery is at 3 Greek Orthodox Patriarchate Street, near Jaffa Gate. The sibling Karakashian — Jerusalem Pottery still says Via Dolorosa. Walk to the Patriarchate street.

Buy one object whose house you can name. If spice was the brief, Sea of Herbs is on Al-Attarin Street in the Muslim Quarter souk. No house number. Ask for za'atar you will cook with. Do not add a third unsigned tile stall because the alley continued. Do not file an olive-wood nativity or a coloured glass vase under the Jerusalem day. Those objects belong to other towns.

14:30. Jaffa grid, Musrara, Mamilla silver

Come out to Jaffa Street. Baltinester Bros. Jewelry and Judaica is at 31 Jaffa. Ask what was made for the house and what was bought in. Sefer ve Sefel is at 2 Yavetz, a short lane off Jaffa. Pomeranz Bookseller is at 5 Be'eri. Yad LaKashish Gift Shop is at 14 Shivtei Israel. Nadav Art is at 18 Shlomzion Hamalka, not inside the walls. Visit at most two of the book and gift rooms. Compare stock, not shopfronts.

If filigree is the brief, walk to Shevach Silversmiths at 16 Mamilla Avenue. That is the reason to enter the boulevard. Ask whether the filigree on the cup in your hand was worked on this bench. Fox Home Jerusalem at Alrov 8, Laline Jerusalem at Mamilla 3, Bug Jerusalem at Mamilla 8 and Renuar Jerusalem at 9 Shlomo ha-Melekh sit on the same grid. They are chain doors. Leave them unless you already came for the brand. Steimatzky Jerusalem at 33 Jaffa and Opticana Jerusalem at 23 King George are the same rule.

Lavido Jerusalem has a published stockist at 33 King George, Or LaTeva, if you already came for that cream. It is not a Lavido brand shop.

16:30. Mahane Yehuda as a walk

Mahane Yehuda is a market, not a house. Walk it for food you will eat. Ne'eman Bakery at 34 Jaffa Street is one official chain door on the way. Perfuniq (Mahane Yehuda Perfumes) lists 12 Ben Sira Street and marks that door under construction. Ask whether they are receiving. Do not invent a stall number inside the shuk. Davidka Square Boutiques at 31.78450, 35.21509 is a square you will pass if you stay on Jaffa. It is not a maker.

Separate half-day. Talpiot, Malha, and the doors that are not Jerusalem

Koren Publishers Shop at 10 Ein Gedi Street is a Talpiot publisher errand. Home Center Jerusalem at 9 Hauman and KSP Jerusalem at 17 Hauman are industrial chain doors in the same south. Do not bolt them onto the Old City day.

Malha Mall at 1 Derech Agudat Sport Beitar holds Castro Jerusalem, Fox Jerusalem, iDigital Jerusalem, Samsung Store Jerusalem and Toys R Us Jerusalem. Useful if you need those names. Not the route.

Bethlehem Star Olive Wood Factory is in Bethlehem, Old Caritas Hospital Street. Hebron Glass (Natsheh Glass & Ceramic Factory) is in Hebron, Ras al-Jora. Clinique Jerusalem is official Zahav Mall in Rishon. Maskit Jerusalem is official 14 Hatzorfim in Jaffa. Moroccanoil Jerusalem is official Moshe Levi 1 in Rishon. Home Boutique Jerusalem is official Topaz Street in Ashkelon. Plan those towns if the object is the point. Do not buy a copy between Jaffa Gate and the spice market and file it under those houses.

Jerusalem Toy Workshop and Aldo Stationery Jerusalem have last-checkable streets that belong to other shops (Woody at 13 HaZfira; Aldo shoes at Hadar). They do not belong on the walk.
