How do I tell a continuous house from a brand room in Verbier?

Ask what happens if you ask the person behind the counter how long the shop has been here. At Fellay, La Chaumière, Philippe Roux, or Arts'Décos, you'll get a real family name and a real year. At a monobrand door, you'll get the parent company's history, because that's the only history the room has — the Verbier address is recent, whatever the brand's own founding date might be. A "chalet style" object with no maker behind it — Verbier's genuine interior and craft houses will tell you who built or sourced what you're buying, and a shop that can't answer that question is selling atmosphere, not an object. And treat any specific payment or loyalty claim carefully: several local networks (communal loyalty schemes, resort-wide acceptance programs) apply unevenly across independents here, so don't assume a card or scheme is honoured everywhere without checking at the till first.
