Fridolin Knösel opened this old-town café in 1863 and created the Heidelberger Studentenkuß, a chocolate praline of nougat, truffle and hazelnut once passed discreetly between courting students. The shop on Haspelgasse near the Heiliggeistkirche still makes the pralines by hand several times a week and sells them alongside the café.

Elly Seidl is a Munich chocolate business whose history began with Barbara Grathwohl in 1918. Pralines and chocolate are central to its range, alongside cakes and other sweet gifts. The Rambold family took over the business after leasing it in the 1970s, with the next generation continuing its production and retail work.
