The Italian one-piece collar is a quiet engineering argument in cotton, made by three houses in three ways. Finamore 1925 runs a dedicated one-piece collar line as a fourth-generation Neapolitan shirtmaker. G Inglese hand-makes the signature one-piece collar that carries its name. Marol cuts the Iseo one-piece collar in Riva cloth at 13 stitches per centimeter since 1959. The collar roll frames the face; check it against your own chin rather than the mannequin's, since the roll is cut for a neck rather than a stand.
Bologna's small-atelier luxury shirtmaker (1959) — 13 stitches per centimeter, and the famous 'Iseo' one-piece collar shirt; own e-shop absent, so linked via its Brussels stockist Maison Degand.

Loro Piana has specialized in cashmere, vicuña and extrafine wool since 1924, with material expertise spanning rare Andean vicuña, baby cashmere and fine wool processed through its Italian textile tradition.
Best for Cashmere knits, one-piece collar polos, and the summit of quiet luxury.
The Loro Piana family traded wool in Piedmont from the early nineteenth century; the modern house, seated in Quarona since 1924, became the world's foremost buyer and weaver of superlative fibers — baby cashmere combed from Hircus goat kids, vicuña from the Andes (a species the company helped bring back from near-extinction through conservation agreements), extra-fine merinos secured at auction records. The clothing exists, in a sense, to serve the fiber: unlogo'd knitwear, jackets, and accessories whose entire argument is made by hand-feel. The Open Walk suede shoe and the cashmere sweaters are the recognizable staples of the quiet-luxury wardrobe the house defined decades before the term existed. All of it is made in Italy, within reach of the Quarona mill. Touch before buying elsewhere: Loro Piana is the calibration standard against which softness claims across the industry are honestly measured.
The baby cashmere pieces justify their premium by hand-feel alone; compare one against ordinary cashmere in the store and the fiber hierarchy becomes obvious.
Errico Formicola’s shirtmaking is visible in details such as soft collars, hand-finished elements and made-to-measure options. The wider range extends that tailoring approach into jackets, knitwear, trousers and accessories.

Fourth-generation Neapolitan shirtmaker with a dedicated one-piece collar collection — the antique construction cut from a single piece, collar rolling upright on its own.
Luca Avitabile makes shirts by hand in an atelier inside Palazzo Berio on Via Toledo in Naples, opposite the Galleria Umberto. Bespoke work starts with a muslin pattern and a fitting, with fabrics from Carlo Riva and Alumo. His Friday polo, cut long with shirt tails to sit under tailoring, joined the range in 2020. Ready-to-wear and made-to-order pieces are sold online, and trunk shows take the atelier abroad.
Best for The definitive one-piece collar polo.
Luca Avitabile cuts shirts in an atelier on the first floor of Palazzo Berio on Via Toledo in Naples, opposite the Galleria Umberto. Clients climb a stone stairwell and ring the bell before entering a terrazzo-floored fitting room. Monocle described the process in its February 2024 issue. After coffee and conversation Avitabile cuts a pattern in plain muslin and follows it with a fitting, which he regards as the delicate part of the process. Fabric choices run from striped Carlo Riva twill to Alumo Swiss cotton and Japanese denim, with buttons in Australian or Tahitian mother-of-pearl. The Friday polo, sewn from lightweight piqué and cut long with shirt tails so it can be tucked under tailoring, entered the range in 2020 as ready-to-wear and is now ordered custom as often as not. Clients who come for a classic shirt usually add a made-to-measure overshirt or polo, he told the magazine. A made-to-order overshirt service lets customers pick fabric and details. Ready-to-wear shirts and knitwear are sold online, and trunk shows and virtual meetings extend the atelier beyond Naples. Enquiries in Japanese are welcome, and appointments at the atelier are booked by email.
