What Aklala Batik is known for
Aklala Batik trains vulnerable young women and female cooperatives in hand-dyeing and sewing from its center on Boulevard de la Victoire, producing batik cloth, garments and accessories sold through its own shop and online store. Founded in 2008 by Chantal Donvidé, the workshop has trained roughly 1,000 young women and produced about 3,000 artisanal pieces, with a second training center in Kpalimé.
