What Caffè Gilli is known for
Founded by the Swiss Gilli family in 1733, Caffè Gilli is Florence’s historic pasticceria and café on Piazza della Repubblica, where it has occupied its landmark location since the early twentieth century. Pastries and confections are still made on the premises, while its bar, dining rooms and Liberty-style interior preserve the character of one of the city’s longest-running café institutions and a rare surviving example of Florentine Art Nouveau café design.
