Enchanted (of Salem) — Laurie Cabot's shop

Enchanted is a witch shop on Pickering Wharf at 98 Wharf Street in Salem, Massachusetts. It is the home of Laurie Cabot, the Official Witch of Salem, and her daughter Penny Cabot. Cabot has practised witchcraft for close to seventy years and opened a witch shop in Salem in 1970. She has written five books and lectured at Salem State and at Harvard and Oxford. Many of the shop's readers trained with her, and the store carries the Cabots' hand-crafted magickal items. It describes itself as a shop for witches and muggles alike, with warm colours and a wisteria-hung tree inside. Its shelves hold herbs and oils as well as stones and crystals. There are peytons or altar tiles and candles with holders. Athames and chalices sit beside offering bowls. Jewellery comes from Crystal Earth and Peter Stone as well as local artisans. Soaps and herbal teas, along with aromatherapy products, are made by local crafters and Salem witches. Enchanted also runs classes and workshops, Reiki and psychic and tarot readings, in person, by phone or over Zoom, and same-day readings are booked by telephone rather than online.
