Guante Varadé

Guante Varadé was founded in Madrid in 1910 by Carlos Varadé, a Spanish-born glove maker who trained in Germany in leather treatment before opening a leather-glove factory in the Rastro neighborhood. The house is now in its fifth generation of family ownership, one of a small remaining cluster of century-old Madrid glove businesses alongside Fábrica de Guantes Luque and Santacana, both already covered in this category.

The house's own account of its process is direct: it states that for the artisanal manufacture of a pair of Varadé gloves, "we care for every detail," from rigorous material selection through to finishing. That heritage claim has independent backing — Varadé gloves won a gold medal at the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition, a verifiable award rather than a self-description, and one contemporaneous with the company's early decades under its founder.

Today the business runs from Calle de Cristóbal Bordiú 23 in Madrid and has expanded into complementary accessories — hats, scarves, and swimwear from established brands — sold alongside its own gloves. Gloves remain the house's founding product and the reason for its name; the accessory lines read as an added retail category rather than a shift away from glove-making, which keeps it inside this section's primary-trade-identity standard.
