Human Empire Shop grew out of a Hamburg design studio's search for working space. Jan, Wiebke and Malte found a former shop that could serve as both an office and a place to show the things they designed. Records and printed work for the music label Morr Music were among the early reasons to create a public-facing space.
As goods from other designers and small labels arrived, the retail area grew. The studio eventually moved into nearby offices, giving the shop more room. That history explains why graphic work remains part of a range that now extends into everyday objects for the home.
The current catalogue includes prints and illustrated products as well as stationery and books alongside home accessories. Frames and poster rails provide ways to display the graphic work, while cards offer a smaller purchase. For an artwork, check the dimensions and whether a frame is included before choosing it. The shop's own design background does not mean it manufactures every item in the assortment; work from other makers remains part of the offer.
