Printa

Zita Majoros founded Printa in 2009, after an earlier venture called Bolt Muhely in 2006. She was born in Serbia, graduated in graphics from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts and has said she wanted a creative playground where she could realise her own ideas. The shop stands at Rumbach Sebestyen utca 10A in District VII, diagonally opposite the Rumbach Sebestyen Street Synagogue. Majoros has lived in the district since 1999, when it was run down, and told We Love Budapest that its architecture and dark facades were what held her. Printa works as shop, gallery, screen-printing studio in one room. Every exhibition in the Printa Edition gallery is accompanied by limited-run serigraphs printed in the shop's own workshop. The product range covers clothing for women, men, children, along with canvas bags, kitchen textiles, cushions, printed maps of Pest. Sustainability is the stated design constraint rather than a slogan, and the studio works with zero waste construction and reuse. The Hetker label, named after the everyday Hungarian word for District VII, put the quarter's buildings on shirts and bags in 2022. The shop opens daily and the workshop runs behind it.
