JEM stands for Jewellery Ethically Minded. The Paris house presents itself as the first French jeweller engaged in the Fairmined programme, which certifies gold from mines committed to eco-responsible practice. Its stated aim is a jeweller's craft that pairs ethical commitment with simplicity and refinement. The pieces are meant to be plain enough to move through time with their owners. The collections carry names such as Via, Octogone, Etreintes, Sillons and Anagramme. Voids is a line designed with India Mahdavi. Alongside Fairmined gold, JEM works with lab-grown diamonds and with pearls and mother-of-pearl from Fiji. It documents traceability along its value chain. The house makes engagement rings and wedding bands for women and men. A bespoke service is offered, and appointments can be taken in store or by video. La Maison JEM is at 10 rue d'Alger in the first arrondissement, and a second shop operates in Lyon. Retailers include La Samaritaine and Galeries Lafayette Haussmann in Paris. Abroad the pieces are carried by Mouki Mou in London, Nordstrom in Portland and Le Grand Magasin in Geneva. Everything is made in France. JEM states a commitment to preserving French jewellery-making skills as part of its mission.
