What Page Gallery is known for
Page Gallery presents contemporary art in downtown Camden, Maine, at 23 Bay View Street. Established in 2018, it shows paintings and drawings alongside sculpture through a year-round exhibition programme. Visitors can contact the gallery to learn about available works or arrange a visit.
Page Gallery works on a rotating exhibition programme rather than a permanent hang, and the rhythm is what makes the room worth returning to. Shows change every few weeks, usually pairing two or three artists, and a good number carry an artist talk alongside them.
The artists are the substance. Recent groupings have brought together David Graeme Baker, Sal Taylor Kydd and Holden Willard; Siri Beckman, Tom Curry and Simon van der Ven; Ken DeWaard, Jessica Lee Ives and Nathaniel Meyer; and Hannah Berta, Sophie Cangelosi and Colin Page. Brenton Hamilton and Anneli Skaar have taken the room on their own, and Gideon Bok, Susan Lichtman and Terry Powers have shown together.
Alongside the commercial programme the gallery runs Artists in Action Against Food Insecurity, and collaborates annually with The Poets Corner, a partnership now in its fourth year. That is an unusual commitment for a gallery of this size and says something about how it understands its place. Come for the work, and time a visit to one of the talks if you can.
