Rooibos Ltd

Rooibos Ltd has supplied rooibos and related herbal products since 1954, based in Clanwilliam in South Africa's Cederberg region — the only place in the world where rooibos grows commercially, a plant endemic to this specific stretch of Western Cape mountain terrain. The company now exports to more than fifty countries, carrying a plant that was a purely regional South African drink for most of its history out to a genuinely global market.

Beyond standard rooibos, the company processes green rooibos — an unoxidized version that keeps more of the plant's antioxidant content than the traditional fermented, red-brown leaf most drinkers know — alongside honeybush, a related caffeine-free herbal tea, and rosehip products. Its retail presence in Clanwilliam has moved into the newly built House of Rooibos, a combined tea room, shop, and information center covering rooibos history and production, where the company's long-standing factory shop relocated to reach visitors touring what Clanwilliam markets as the Rooibos Capital of the world.

Seventy years of continuous supply from the one region on Earth that grows the plant commercially gives Rooibos Ltd a claim few herbal tea companies anywhere can match: it is not sourcing rooibos from somewhere else, it is operating from the only place rooibos comes from.
