Scye

Scye is a Tokyo clothing label run by Masterpiece and Co. Its main line started in 2000 and takes British classic clothing as its base, rebuilding it from a contemporary viewpoint into clothes meant for daily wear. A second line, Scye Basics, is built on basic items in which the fabric and the cutting are considered together with the inner construction. For most of its life the brand had no shop of its own and put on no shows. The opening of Scye Mercantile in Sendagaya at the end of August 2017 therefore came as a surprise to many of its followers. Designer Hideaki Miyahara told the magazine Houyhnhnm that a store had been part of the plan since the brand began. The pieces only fell into place in the five years before the opening. He looked for a building he could rent whole, with the store on the first floor and offices above. That way he could come down and meet customers when they walked in. The shop stands at 3-54-13 Sendagaya, in a quiet part of Shibuya-ku with Meiji Jingu Shrine next door. The company's own office is at 1-7-20 Uehara, also in Shibuya-ku. The label has released collaborations with DAKS and with Lee for United Arrows.
