Soilboy

Soilboy is a Singapore plant retailer that began online selling indoor houseplants and gardening essentials before opening physical stores. Its first outlet was in the Thomson area. In 2024 it moved into a flagship at 46 Kim Yam Road in New Bahru, designed by the studio Silo. Time Out Singapore described the new store as five times bigger than the former Sin Ming space and among the more carefully designed stores in the cluster. The shop stocks a chosen range of low-maintenance houseplants and handmade pots from Korea, plus merchandise made with local illustrators such as Oak & Bindi. A potting station doubles as a plant clinic for ailing plants. A dedicated workshop space hosts plant care sessions and bonsai styling classes as well as ikebana activities. A Sculpt & Plant workshop with Rhombus Lab lets visitors make a pot and repot a plant. The same Korean maker produces the Soilboy modular plant stands with perforated panels and a built-in drainage tray. The company says its mission is to inspire curiosity for the greener things in life. Each plant goes home with a guide and care instructions, with labels attached. Yellowtrace covered the Silo interior in 2024, noting multiple retail zones within a minimalist scheme.
