What Solidaridad Bookshop is known for
Solidaridad Bookshop was opened in Manila in 1965 by writer F. Sionil José and his wife Tessie. The Padre Faura bookshop became associated with Philippine and Southeast Asian writing, alongside the couple’s publishing work. In June 2025, the family announced that the business was being offered for sale, so that report does not establish a completed change of ownership.
