Booksellers & Stationers
Plate M-4 · 909 stores · 1–150 of 909 · curated ORBIS register
Contemporary Algerian and Maghrebi literature is published by Editions Barzakh, an independent house based in Algiers. Amman's books@café combines bilingual books with a café, also selling journals and paper goods across its locations. Graphic designer Andrea Atalla founded Limited Addition in 1999, using traditional silk-screen techniques to make stationery. Its workshop and showroom sell notebooks and sketch pads alongside cards, with handmade money envelopes also included in the range.
What makes great booksellers & stationers?
This plate lists 909 shops in 98 countries. Paris has the most with 27, followed by Tokyo with 15. Among these shops, 5 offer repairs, 63 sell online and 3 work by appointment, going by their own descriptions.
Search by ISBN before you travel: ask the shop to confirm that the exact edition and language you want are on the shelf.
Ask about signed or limited copies: ask how a signed or numbered copy is documented and how it will be packed.
Ask about collection or delivery: an online listing is not proof a title is in the shop, so ask before making the trip.
Check access before you go. The American Book Center says every floor of its Amsterdam shop on the Spui is reached by lift, while only the ground floor of its shop in The Hague is accessible.
